Another Timely Article.

I clicked one of those pop-up ads today. I know you aren't suppose too, they eat your computer, etc, etc but this one was flashing about domestic violence and raising awareness so despite the nagging beast in my head I clicked. What I found a very timely article from Today's Christian Woman illustrating how Domestic violence can invade ANY home. This woman story may sound Very familiar to many of you. It did to me. The constant control by someone else. The feelings of how did I get here? and what now? nagged me for years but her story is also a story of hope.

    Thanks for all of your help. I just needed someone to stand with me and help me to be brave. Yesterday I visited with someone to help me get my head on straight and today I applied for legal assistance. I can't help thinking that reading your blog and leaving a comment help me to see that I needed help. It woke me up.

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month and this is my story of survival....... He was 6’2 and looked like he belonged on the walls of Abercrombie and Fitch with his wavy espresso colored hair, milk chocolate eyes, and rock-hard abs. He was affectionate, funny, smart, quick-witted, and dating me! Volunteer work, under-roos & updates

I have been contacted recently asking me things such as: Why I have fallen off the blog-o-sphere. Isn't my Domestic Violence work important to me anymore? Did I only work my "platform" for the title? and on and on. First, let me clarify I don't do volunteer work of any kind simply to win a crown. If I wanted to run around in a glass hat so people would look at me and say "oh look isn't she pretty!" I would buy one on- line and have a sash made, it would be less work and expense. The crown is a great tool and if I happen to be chosen to represent the system and win the crown then I will happily promote the pageant system WHILE I continue to volunteer and work my platform. I don't need the crown to make a difference and in all honesty neither does anyone else. Now then let me tell you why I have not updated in quite some time.
